Too many times we as Christians try to hold on to vices in life that will not only stifle our growth in the Lord, but will deprive others of the blessings that could enrich their lives immensely. Lemuel recounts the all important teaching his mother imparted to him in Proverbs 31:1-9. It comes as a solemn warning from a passionate and concerned  mother to a sitting king to give away sinful lusts that can destroy lives. She admonishes him to impart his God given strength to those who are in need.
