In this passage Paul writes to the believers at Philippi and is very encouraged by their steadfastness in the faith. He assures them that their perseverance is a result of the miraculous working of God in their lives, and He will continue to perform that work until Christ returns for them. What an encouragement it is for us as believers that we have God working on our behalf to bring about His good pleasure in our lives!
